Debbie Pilzer, LPC

Executive Director

My Story

Counseling is my 2nd career!  As a former 27 year Corporate Recruiter for Fortune 100 companies, I learned the importance of listening to the needs of others.  In 2010, my life transitioned due to the economic downturn and I found myself seeking a new career.  I enrolled in graduate school at the age of 45 and thus began my journey in becoming a counselor.  Graduating in 2014, I learned that I absolutely love working with couples, individuals and families when it comes to finding the meaning of relationships with self and others.  This work is my passion and I want to help YOU empower yourself and your relationships!

Helping You Move Forward

Debbie believes that authentic connection sits at the heart of a healthy relationship.  She teaches individuals, couples, and families how to navigate the push and pull of trust, intimacy, communication and engagement.

Debbie feels that good therapy involves her ability to support clients to find their voice. For all clients, Debbie teaches how to get in touch with their unique self.  She creates an environment where each person learns to listen, empathize and validate other's perspectives.  Debbie's non-judgmental approach welcomes clients with sensitive issues related to sexuality, open relationships, betrayal, as well as the LGBTQIA community.   She is also passionate about leading a mindful life, both personally and in her work with her clients.

Are you in a relationship where communication and intimacy have fallen away?  Are you an individual recovering from relational emotional abuse?  Are you simply seeking a more content relationship with yourself?  I will walk your therapeutic journey with you and together we will work to build a better and clearer path.

Debbie holds a Masters of Science degree from Capella University and is professionally trained in the Gottman  Method, level 1 & 2, an evidenced-based treatment modality for treating couples.  For individuals, Debbie specializes in how to have a healthy relationship with one's self.  Debbie has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), and is currently training in Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).

Debbie is an Approved Clinical Supervisor through the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and offers clinical consultation and MFT Supervision, in a caring and reflective way that is focused on looking at all cases from a systemic approach.

Debbie is also pursuing her Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University.

In her spare time, Debbie is a Ballroom dancer and competes in many national competitions on the East Coast.

Penny Sehas

Penny is thrilled to start her journey as a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern. Currently, she is pursuing her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University.  Penny sees that connections to individual's pasts can affect how they handle their feelings and relationships in their present.

Before beginning her graduate school journey, Penny gained valuable experience through her professional and personal life. She had the honor of working with adolescents and their families as a teacher for over 20 years. This experience taught Penny the importance of active listening, empathy, flexibility, and creating safe, culturally-informed spaces. Additionally, Penny has served as a caregiver for her parents, which has promoted compassion, patience, and optimism. Both roles have reinforced a sense of advocacy.

Penny's interest in being a therapist is a natural extension of her previous work and aligned with her overall commitment to service. She hopes to help individuals, couples, and families as they work towards healthier, happier lives.
